A brief Analysis of friends sitcom characters

 

236 episodes , 10 seasons , 6 characters. Most watched television series of all time. I got to know about that show from my best friend . she used to blabber so much about that show and kind of forced me into watching it and from that day I am still in awe. How can a show be so relatable, can be watched by people of any age, no matter how much you watch it , you never get bored. I got hooked into that show so much that I ended up watching it 6 times { and I still watch it (guilty pleasure)}. However I have seen people not liking it. 

 This is an article about the characters that makes this show so great , the characters who made us laugh, emotional ,their incredible wit, the humor they carry. So let’s start -

First let’s talk about the characters –

1. Rachel- Let’s talk about her first because she had the best development on the show . From being dependent on her father’s money , doing an arrange marriage where there is no love , spoiled person , selfish brat to being someone who cares about their friends, being someone who is independent. From being an waitress to being an executive at Ralph lauren ( also got the job at Gucci ) . She taught us never to give up on our dreams and its never too late to run from a life you don’t want ) . 

2. Monica- Monica In my opinion is under appreciated in a show , she was a very giving person, like in the episode “The one where the underdog gets away” , She made three types of potatoes , in the other episode, she made the whole turkey only because Joey wanted to eat it , accepted Rachel when she ran  away from her parents even though she wasn’t even got invited in that wedding , She made everyone care about Rachel ( later revealed by joey ). she was really the best mom friends could really ask for . 

3. Phoebe- What can I say about her! Witty, Sarcastic, Independent from a really young age, and kind. She is quirky in her own way. From delivering his brother’s baby ( relax guys , she was the surrogate) to being pretending to be Estelle in order to not hurt joey , from being Ursula to give joey the closure he should get, to using police badge to stop crimes against nature and offcourse her utmost love for her music ( ha-ha) . there are so many instances of phoebe that will make you love her . A lot of instances and moments can be shared with you guys – and I wish I could but I don’t want to :p

4. Joey- The one who never hurt anyone’s feeling ever . Call him  cheater but you will never find an instance of him cheating not even on his friends let alone his girl . Casually sleeping with a lot of girls but didn’t play with anyone’s heart . Choose phoebe instead of Ursula , Leaving  Rachel for ross , Katie for chandler , left Janine for monica and chandler , always was there when his friends needed them . A true  gentleman and a kid by heart . we definitely love joey and we also don’t share fooooddddddddd.

5. Chandler – I love how there was a lot of personal development we have seen in chandler as well. From being not able to let go off grudge of his parents to finally letting go, from being not able to commit to any woman to being planning the whole surprise to  propose to monica , from being doing the job he hates & doing it only for the money to changing the job and doing the not so paid internship. However the only constant thing there was in his life is his sarcasm . 

6. Ross- Someone who has been a perfect child in front of his parents and still full of imperfections – here we can definitely relate to ross . He is one of the well written characters in tv . he was the one who always cared about Rachel no matter what , my favourite instance is when he helped Rachel getting ready for the function because she was injured cancelling his own chance of being on tv . He always pushed every other girl for her . Be it the instance where he  gifted phoebe the bicycle  or kissing joey ( to help him get the guy kissing role. Ross is the most sympathetic character on the show – his wife cheated on him , also tried to cut him off from his child’s identity & despite that he supported her ex wife and lesbian life partner . Ross’ unpredictable life from being so happy with emily to the next moment where he has to give her divorce yet he always will puts a smile on your face be it by his misery or his bagpipes .

Could it be any shorter ? well uh huh, I have already mentioned it was a brief analysis . I really had fun writing this blog and hope you love reading it .
